Marrakesh became the best direction of Africa 2015
Morocco’s most popular resort – world famous Marrakesh – again proved its high level. The Red-Under-User City of the Kingdom received the prestigious International Prize World Travel Awards as the best tourist destination of Africa 2015.
The great impression on the jury was produced by fashionable hotels in Marrakesh, where they love to rest well-known politicians, show business and sports stars, – Namaskar, Royal Mansour and Selman, as well as the legendary hotel class Mamounia, which in a few years will celebrate its century.
Individual experts praise worthy objects of sports tourism and active recreation cities (golf courses, tennis courts, swimming pools), fitness centers, spas and legendary Moroccan hammams.
The jury also noted that this year the authorities of Marrakech significantly upgraded the appearance of the most popular places in the city. So, on the famous Djemaa el Fna, as amended in 2001 in the list of Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage by UNESCO, set new tables, forming a huge open-air restaurant, which come every evening to eat thousands of lovers of traditional Moroccan cuisine.
At the same time it began a large-scale restoration of several large areas near the walls of the medina (medieval quarter) of Marrakech.
Marrakech – one of the four imperial cities of Morocco – was founded in 1062 the ruler Yusuf bin Tashfin. For many years the town firmly holds the palm among the kingdom’s cities according to the number of tourists received in the first place foreign visitors.
