Cedar Pad “- edge of wild cats and pristine nature

"Cedar Pad" – the edge of wild cats and pristine nature

The "Cedar Pad" reserve in Primorye is one of the oldest in the country, created during the days of the our Empire.

It all started with the salvation of trees.

1860. In the harbor of the Gulf of Petra Great, as directed by the Count of Muravyov-Amur, the city of Vladivostok is founded.

Century xx. A transseniest highway, tied Vladivostok with the center of Russia, began reforms Peter Stolypin. On March 10, 1906, everyone without restrictions were granted the right to relocate. And in Primorye, wave of the people. Only in 1907 more than 60,000 people moved here. The active development of the Ussuri region began.

The most affordable material for construction was a tree. Chick trees were allowed without restrictions and accounting. Why, it becomes clear if, for example, familiarize yourself with the notes in the Primorsky Master newspaper, which was published in Nikolsk-Ussuri. Here they wrote about the fact that the forest is the main enemy of rural residents: it is from the forest that the predatory live insects fly and come predatory beasts, destroying livestock.

And the biggest misfortune for the Ussuri taiga became forest fires, often arising because of intentional arsals to liberate land from trees.

". From the smoke that covers the sea, it is impossible to consider safety signs on the fairway and stems on the shore, and the courts have to stand anchor to wait for smoke scattering from changing the direction of the wind or from rain that would exist fire, " Poamur Governor General Pavel Untersberger wrote.

Because of the barbarian attitude towards the forest, Primorye could lose many valuable trees, including endemics (growing exclusively in this region. – approx. Avt.). Botany counted more than 900 species of all kinds of plants on this territory: eight types of maple, five – birch, two – lilacs, and also Korean pine, manchur nut, Amur velvet, black fir. Only in the Khasansky district of Primorye, Rhododendron Schlippenbach is growing with large pale pink flowers, decoracing the spring Skirk.

To preserve the endangered species of the local flora in 1911, the Slavic forestry was formed and the first inventory of the Forest Foundation was carried out, as a result of which it turned out that in the area of Cedar Padi (the mountain valley inepled in the Far East. – approx. Avt.) A large amount of untouched, virgin forest has been preserved. That is why in 1916, the Forestry Slavic Lesnia Theodore Gorodetsky raised the issue of banning in this area of cutting trees and the organization of the reserve. Write and was created on October 25, 1916 by decree of another Governor General of the Amur region – Nikolai Gondatti.

The second time the "Cedar Pad" reserve was born on May 1, 1924, when the status of the reserve for the rights of self-government was confirmed by the decision of the Far Eastern Revolutionary Committee.

The "Cedar Pad" reserve is one of the oldest in Russia

At the beginning of the twentieth century in Primorye, in addition to trees, animals were actively exterminated, first of all spotted deer and spruce. And their young horns filled with blood became guilt for this – Pants, who were actively bought in China and Korea, and it became a very good business. In Eastern Medicine, young horns of deer are considered one of the most valuable drugs capable of keeping forces and return youth. They are part of the set of all kinds of drugs from all diseases. In its value, the Panta is comparable only with ginseng, which, by the way, is also growing on the territory of the reserve.

Stop the poaching business and save almost completely disappeared the livestock of spotted deer helped the reserves of the territory and enhanced by its protection.

With a group of tourists, we arrived on the territory of the "Cedar Pad" reserve and passed on the ecological trail "Steps of the Commandments".

This route passes through the "Botanic Alley", which is especially good in the fall.

One of the trees growing here suffered not only me, but also all the tourists.

This is iron birch, or shmidt birch. In Russia, this tree is found only here, in the south of Primorsky Krai. Iron it is named for its wood, which is badly burning, sinking in water and has such a hardness that the details did one time, since she is stronger cast iron. Even bullets released from gun fly from iron birch barrel.

And iron birch lives up to 400 years!

Externally on the usual birch with a white barrel she is not at all like.

You can talk about maples in Primorye. In the summer, they do not stand out from the surrounding vegetation, but autumn comes and begins, as the Japanese say, Momidzi, that is, the time of admirement with red leaves of maples.

And near these cliffs, tourists always make photos for memory. This is one of the favorite recreation sites of the Far Eastern Leopards – the most rare in the world of large cats, living only in this region.

I imagined how beautiful it would be if the beast stood in the frame on the stones!

In the middle of the last century it was believed that the Far Eastern leopards in nature almost did not remain. Employees occasionally saw traces, but nobody met the animals themselves. Fortunately, it turned out that a small population in the reserve was preserved, just to meet this over-gravy predator is very difficult.

One of the employees of the reserve Yury Shibnev described his first meeting with Leopard:

Cedar Pad

". The sun was faded behind the hill, but it was still very light, quiet and cool. The forest recently dropped the dying autumn foliage, the land of the land with a loose rustling carpet, and stood modest and transparent. I walked along a hut tropka, hoping to fall to the house. It remained to go through three with a small kilometer, when, having risen on a surcharge terrace, where the path straightened to good fifty meters, I saw him. He was high on his feet and in the first moment it seemed to me by the wolf, but at the next minute, throwing binoculars, I realized that I was wrong. Leopard – And it was he – came down from the trail to leave a label about the full ownership of his territory. But immediately threw his head to look around, and saw me. For a few seconds, we looked at each other frozen, then he went on the path, making a couple of soft steps into my side, trying to understand who I am, and the next moment turned on the spot, once again I turned my head again, exposed fangs and a slight gallop. I went to a young fir tree up the slope. "

Now the Far Eastern Leopard is under a special protection of the reserve, but despite the fact that the number of animals has increased markedly, they still are still in the list of the most rare animals of the planet and enter all the Red Books and List No. 1 CITES – List of animals, which trade in which Forbidden by international agreements.

Far Eastern Leopard – not the only beast inhabitants in the reserve. Amur tigers, badgers, raccoon dogs, boars, flying proteins and white bears living in hollows trees.

If you want to truly enjoy nature, then come to the reserve is best for several days – all the more, all the conditions for a comfortable stay of guests have been created.

True, you should not forget that this is an environmental territory, and therefore, without accompanying employees, it is impossible to move away from Cordon.

Such rules have been introduced not only for nature conservation, but also for the safety of its guests. And if a sudden meeting with a leopard is just frightened to you, since the Far Eastern Leopard never attacks a person, unlike his African fellow, the meeting with a tiger or bear can end up not very good.

If you decide to live a little on the cordon, you can, for example, walk to the cedar river and donate on the shore, under the murmur of water in pebbles, well, in the summer heat you can even swim in it.

The water in the river is very cold, and, although the river is completely shallow, there is dangerous places in it. One of these has a very strange name: Director pit. In honor of which such director it was called, the story is silent, but the depth of this pit is more than 4 m. Water in cedar is so clean and transparent that from the shore can be observed as a fish splash in this pit. You can watch it is impossible to catch!

A little further on the river there is a suspension bridge. Independently walk before it is not rebeling, but you can go to the shore only with the accompaniment.

For lovers of long walks in the reserve there is a 14-kilometer route "To the heart of a cedar paddy", where the excursors are invited to go deep into the protected zone, to get acquainted with the local Flora, and if you are lucky, then with the fauna.

Being in the protected area, it is always necessary to follow the safety rules. And in the event of a meeting with wild animals, you need to remember:

Cedar Pad
